About the Destination
At the southern foot of Mount Tambora in Dompu lies an endless sea of golden grass — Padang Savana Doro Ncanga. Rolling plains ripple in the wind, dotted with wild horses, cattle and buffalo released by local farmers, and framed by the Tambora massif and Teluk Saleh. Often called “Little Africa,” it is also one of the official climbing routes to Tambora: a Jeep 4WD carries you up through the savanna to Pos 3 before the final trek to the crater rim.
